Hypothetically, lets say another book was discovered that was penned by Jesus Christ himself. Before you say, "impossible", what if it contained within it, instructions on how to absolutely verify its authenticity, (let's say by causing some miraculous stellar event) and what if upon following these instructions all the Christian leaders in the world proclaimed that this book was the true word of god.

Suppose this new book told in great detail how men would someday write the bible as a way to control other men.

What if it said ALL people would be welcome into heaven, whether they followed Jesus Christ or not, no matter what religion they were (or weren't.)

Would you be capable of accepting such a book?

I'm not a christian, but I think this is a very good question.

Many denominations on this earth, mostly (though not limited to) christians have a problem of being open-minded to the idea that they COULD be wrong.

For instance, in the Gospel of Barnabas, the story is quite different. Jesus himself stated that he himself was simply a man since he was subject to the miseries of heat, cold, eating, sleeping, etc. and that he was detached from the idea of a man being/becoming a god.

This very book was reputed to have been kept in hiding in the Vatican since the scripture inside was condemned to heresy, though when Barnabas's tomb was discovered, one of his very gospels were laid upon his chest.

Many Jesus-freaks have since conjured explanations that this very document was fabricated by renegades sects or even muslims in order to break the catholic faith.

All in all, I suggest that everyone keep an open mind or even a narrow mind, because your mind is very much like a door.

If you leave the door open, new things can come in and old things can go out. If you leave the door closed, then nothing can go in nor out. But even if it's opened only slightly, things can happen...

People who wouldn't even dare question the topic are very much like the people who wouldn't dare think that the world was round...

Knowledge is Power; Power is Freedom; Freedom is Peace...

So may Peace be upon you...

There is no chance at all that the Bible is fake. There were many prophesies that were made that came true hundreds of years later.

The historical accuracy of the Scriptures is likewise in a class by itself, far superior to the written records of Egypt, Assyria, and other early nations. Archeological confirmations of the Biblical record have been almost innumerable in the last century.

Another striking evidence of divine inspiration is found in the fact that many of the principles of modern science were recorded as facts of nature in the Bible long before scientist confirmed them experimentally.

The remarkable structure of the Bible should also be stressed. Although it is a collection of 66 books, written by 40 or more different men over a period of 2,000 years, it is clearly one Book, with perfect unity and consistency throughout.

One final evidence that the Bible is true is found in the testimony of those who have believed it. Multitudes of people, past and present, have found from personal experience that its promises are true, its counsel is sound, its commands and restrictions are wise, and its wonderful message of salvation meets every need for both time and eternity.

not a chance

The bible is the written word of God, there is no need to add or take away even a single dot or tiddle, and it shall stand forever. the bible has over 1000 fullfilled prophesies, and exactly ZERO misses. it is 100% accurate. no need then to look anywhere else, it has proven itself long before I ever came along, and by studiying the bible I know what is coming in the very near future including falonious claims like the one above.

If it's not in the bible, I would be incapable of accepting such a book as anything more than pure fiction, and would waste not a single minute to read even a paragraph.

No i do no longer think of the Holy Bible and Christian faith is pretend. The Bible isn't so annoying to understand in case you examine it like some thing extra significant than a pocket novel or "manhattan cases bestseller" nonsense. interpreting isn't so annoying. Why lots of variations? somebody (ies) protested against God's purely Church, the Roman Catholic Church, thereupon having lots of diverse "government" springing up with their very own variations of the Bible. and a few variations are easily written to help human beings understand the Bible extra desirable, if it relatively is obtainable, yet interpreting the Roman Catholic Bibles below the tutelage of a clergyman or Deacon or the RCIA instructions will enable you to grasp it lots extra desirable. how are you able to get closer to God? Do the interpreting I talked approximately, and pray, and get enrolled in an RCIA classification to grow to be a Roman Catholic. God Bless you.

Sure. Anything is possible. I'm not arrogant enough to think my beliefs are totally right. They just happen to work for me. If such a book came to light, I really wouldn't care. I don't hold alot of stock in the bible anyway. Too many people put their hands in that. There's too many mistakes, wrong translations, etc.

It was made in +360 by sorting through hundreds of scrolls and editing out half of them for unknown reasons. It was translatred from verious Hebrew dialects, to Greek and Latin, and then into German and English. Even though there are "books", the writing style is patchy within books indicating multiple authors.

Its source of authority is itself. It is like claimning o be the worlds greatest whatever and as proof simply say, "Just ask me, I will affirm it."

I DO think we are due for a new, updated religious work; one which will lay the ground for a flawless utopian society upon Earth. If science can be applied with metaphysics and a strongly wise discrimination of 'truth', and ethics. Unity, peace, truth, faith and logic will bring the entire world together and there will no longer be wars nor hatred nor starvation or poverty. There is a root to the problems of mankind, and it begins with ignorance!

Does it really matter? The Bible, especially the New Testament, teaches nothing but the goodness of man. Love of God and your fellow man is its key lesson. Thus even if it were faked there is nothing wrong in its fundamental teachings.

I would add that you have focused on the negative here. The origin of the Bible is not the real concern, but understanding and then living its message is what is important.

no the bible is true. it's impossible for the bible to be fake. God is the author of the bible and He has ensured that what was written in it is true. would God allow a book of salvation to be corrupt for the people He loves? He has protected the bible throughout ages and probably destroyed anyone who dared to tamper with His word, since the bible is so important.

None.

The science of studying ancient literature and its accuracy of transmission to is called historicity. The Bible is so exceedingly accurate in its transmission from the originals to the present copies, that if you compare it to any other ancient writing, the Bible is light years ahead in terms of number of manuscripts and accuracy. If the Bible were to be discredited as being unreliable, then it would be necessary to discard the writings of Homer, Plato, and Aristotle as also unreliable since they are far far less well preserved than the Bible.
