Of course not. There is a lot of stuff in there that i, being catholic, do not believe and do not follow. I believe in both scientific evidence and the Bible, tho.

It's been my experience that few people of ANY faith believe every word literally in their cannons. Now why, pray tell, do you say "Christians/Catholics"? Are you specifically asking Catholics, or are you not aware that Catholics are a certain type of Christian? That's a syllogism, by the way. (All beagles are dogs, but not all dogs are beagles.) I thought someone as smart as you purport to be would know a thing like that. Just for the record, I'm not a very religious person, but I dislike smug, pedantic, self-impressed buffoons on either side of any issue. The Greg Lauries and Chuck Smiths of the world aren't too dissimilar from the Carl Sagans and Bertrand Russells. You may want to actually do a little research. For instance, the bible doesn't say that Jonah was born in a whale. Crack open a grammar book while you're at it. You have a comma splice in your last line.

You cannot group people together and ask these type of questions as there are all different beliefs in the hearts of any relligion etc. To ask does Christianity teach ...., you can ask and get one answer. Fundamental Christianity teaches that every word of the bible is inerrant, as men wrote the bible as they were inspired by God. God is perfect and in complete control. Therefore He gave us the bible as a manual to live by, HIS WORD. God will not allow His Word to contain errors or inconsistencies. The errors or inconsistencies are the people who take things out of context and are misguided whether thru ignorance or satan's cunning influence. We cannot pick apart God's Word and say this part is true, but that part is not. Well, I guess you can and alot of people do, so as to justify their beliefs and behaviors. You can fool others, but when you stand at the Great White Throne Judgement (for the unsaved), who's going to be your audience then?? No one!! It's you and God, then what? There is NOT evidence against things in the Bible. Maybe you're getting this misinformation from the same source you got the idea that Jonah was born in the whale's stomach. Jonah was swallowed by a large fish that vomited him out for his refusal to preach to the people of Ninevah as directed by the Lord. Read the Truth, God's entire word that's true and stop listening to misguided ignorance who cannot even get their biblical stories straight! If you ask Jesus into your heart and follow Him, you would believe and know and not even have the desire to doubt. Trust God, not illinformed people WITH YOUR LIFE!!

not sure what your talking about, they have found evidence of Noah's ark less than 15 miles from where it is said to have landed, I don't remember Jonah being born in the stomach of a whale but rather being swallowed by a whale then spit up on the beach of the very place God wanted Jonah to serve.
Actually, yes I do believe every word of the bible.

Well you have to be more specific in which denomination you talking about. One of the great differences between Protestant and Catholic doctrine is in the area of Tradition. The Protestant church maintains that the Bible alone is intended by God to be the source of doctrinal truth (2 Tim. 3:16). The Catholic Church, however, says, "Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture make up a single sacred deposit of the Word of God . . ." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 97. Note, all citations in this article are from this Catechism).
The Catholic Church reasons thus:
1. "The apostles left bishops as their successors. They gave them their own position of teaching authority.'" (Paragraph 77)
2. "This living transmission, accomplished through the Holy Spirit, is called tradition..." (Par. 78)
3. "Both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honored with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence." (Par. 82).
Within the Catholic scope of Tradition, many doctrines have been "revealed" to the Church over the centuries. For example, there is the veneration of Mary, her immaculate conception and her bodily assumption into heaven. There is also the apocrypha, transubstantiation, praying to saints, the confessional, penance, purgatory, and more. Protestantism as a whole differs with Catholicism in these additions.
Therefore you find that the Catholic church accepts evolutions while Protestants tend not to.

Yes, I believe every story in the Bible actually happened. I do think that some of the translations have lost their original meaning in some of the words (for instance, "eye of a needle" has a different meaning now than it did when written), but otherwise, yes, I do believe it.
Btw, Jonah wasn't born in the stomach of a while, he was there for 3 days.

jonah wasn't born in the whale's stomach. he got tossed overboard, and swallowed by it, then spit up 3 days later.
they actually have found remnants of Noah's ark, and the dimmesions suggest that it could have fit the animals it claimed to have held within it.
and yes, the Bible is true.

Not necessarily every word but every idea. There is NO scientific evidence that disproves ANYTHING in the bible. There are definitely many fallacies in the THEORY of evolution. go to the "virtual Church" website and play sermon # 5014. If that does not change your mind, nothing will.

No I don't believe EVERY single thing the bible says, why? because the bible has been modified time and time again by ppl who do it just to benefit there wants and need. In my opinion faith is all that matters. Not some book that has been modified and changed so many times.

There is a fundamental difference between truth and fact.
It is true that God exists but I cannot prove it.
It is a fact that President Bush said he invaded Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction but it was not true.
Catholics believe that the Bible teaches truth about God but it is not historically factual at all times.
The Bible's primary purpose is to teach us about God and His (or Her) love for us, not to teach history or science.
With love in Christ.
