You'll want to get this very accurate so you can visit the site for Autism Society of America or Autism Foundation or other organization web sites. Autism is now considered a "spectrum disease" meaning it ranges from very mild--called Asperger's, or HFA (high-fuctioning autism)--to very serious. There are many people who grow to be society's best and brightest, educators, researchers, computer programmers, who don't realize they even have the mild version -- until one of their children is born and they suddenly realize that the one little thing they could never quite articulate about themselves has been identified. HFA's lack some of the social skills we consider as norms, but I know so many people with lousy social skills that I'd say we're pretty much in the same boat. I can't give you a percent on anything, and there are all levels of functioning too. You'dhave to define that. Happy reporting.
