I'm going to my brothers engagment party and have no idea what to get. He and his girl friend are both in the Navy and have heaps more money than I do. I have no idea what she likes (she has never said thanks for anything I have given her). They don't really need anything. I'm at a loss.

You can never go wrong with the standards: Serving dish, picture frame, vase. I wouldn't spend a ton of money since it sounds like they have most everything they need and that the bride isn't too appreciative to begin with. It's the sentiment that counts...

My brother got married last year, and had the same thing with them. i am already married with kids, so probably have a little more money, but they never seem grateful.

I would go to the outlet stores, try for a kitchen item - vase is nice and can get some cheap ones.
Photo album, with Wedding or Engagement on it
Massage or a treatment voucher, where they both could get something b4 the wedding.
I ended up going in with all of our family for an oven, as they were building. Ask your brother if he wants something, when she is not around...he may really want something.
Even a t-shirt that says bride / groom..
Or another gift we got is a t-shirt with embroidered names of suburbs - like London / New York / Sydney / Penrith etc..funny, cute and cheap
Good luck, hope she gets better

I would have a star named after them ie.

Tracey and John Smith

She cant moan about that.

Failing that - give them a certificate for 30 days babysitting for when their 1st child is born...

did they register at any stores? bed bath, beyond? if not, ask him!
he's your brother and you want him to smile when he uses his sister's gift in the coming years.

A pretty cake plate or 2 champagne flutes. go to the outlet stores where your $$ go further.
