4 pounds is a bit much but then again that depends on your current weight and level of activity. If you weigh 300 pounds and do nothing but sit around then yeah 4 pounds a week is fine. But if youre less than 180-200 (pending on body frame) I wouldnt recommend more than 2 per week. But back to the question. Basically eating right and excersize of course. But more specifically, dont kill yourself with finding the "right diet"...there is no miracle diet, just do what is most convenient with your lifestyle and obviously a healthy choice. Make sure you include breakfast as a part of every day and spread your meals out throughout the day to eat a total of 6 per day if possible. Cut out the sugar, soda, junk...something that I realized as a personal solution to drinking soda is AVOID DIET SODA AT ALL COSTS haha. Seriously, Ive always had a big soda problem, and I tried diet soda but that aggravates me so much because its teasing you by giving you a glimpse of what soda almost tastes like, making you want it more. I find it much easier to just drink juice and milk (and of course lots of water).
As for Excersize...
Remember, muscular development is just as important for weight loss (or at least improving the physique and losing fat) as cardio. Try to do plenty of lifting with lighter weights to tone the muscles and complete each workout with 10-30 minutes of Cardio. The most effective cardio would be interval training, where you would run maybe a minute or so at a intensity (roughly 75-80% of your max hear rate [220 minus your age]) then slow it down for a minute or two and perform a gentle jog.
Oh yeah and try not to stress the scale and actual weight, whats important is appearance and body fat. If you follow a good workout routine which would include some muscle growth (nescessary for fat burning) you might not drop as much weight due to the increased weight caused by the muslces, as well as various other factors such as hitting a plateau. Basically, dont watch the scale, watch the mirror and the compliments!

, if you want to lose weight, improve your health generally, and have more energy then getting some nutritional help is vital. Once your body starts to absorb the right nutrients and vitamins and protein then you’ll be amazed how quickly you will feel the difference, usually within the first 48 hours if you get the right supplements and help. I had no energy and felt just generally rotten all round so I sought the advice of a nutritional coach (whose advice was FREE) and got myself some great products, I even got free samples before I got started so I could see just how good they were!! There is a website called myhealthabc.com If go on there and fill out the details page you will get a call with no pressure about what you need. There is a mall area as well that’s got some great info and its all set out with easy to follow headings so you can find what you want. It’s so easy and the stuff they have is excellent. I have been using their products for over two years and I feel great. I lost 70 pounds in less than seven months!! My sister lost 60 pounds in five months. The stuff is amazing

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Here's how to lose FIVE pounds in a week from tesh.com (that got it from Women’s Health and Fitness magazine):
- Make sure one of your meals each day is just raw vegetables.
- Don’t drink anything carbonated – it can bloat you.
- Drink a ton of water – then drink some more. It’ll help keep you full and prevent you from retaining water.
- Minimize carbs – no potatoes, rice or pasta.
- Walk for 20 minutes twice a day.
But a word of caution: quick weight loss isn’t healthy, and you shouldn’t do it often. IN OTHER WORDS, DON'T DO THIS EVERY WEEK.

A proper diet is the best way to lose weight naturally and keep it off. You have to eat a varied adequate and balanced diet. Your body needs all kinds of food to function properly including fat in smaller quantities though. Your body needs the nutrients and vitamins in fruits and vegetables the most, that is what you should eat the most of (at least 5 servings a day). You also need protein, and a little fat. Reduce your intake of sweets, fried food and foods that contain a lot of fat. Don't drink too many alcoholic beverages or soft drinks (they have a lot of calories). Don't go to sleep right after you eat. Good luck. You can also get more information about nutrition from this site:

Not safely. A safe weight loss is no more than 2 pounds/week, and that's only safe on a once in a while basis. A pound a week is safe.

it's unhealthy to lose more than 1-2# per week. Also, if you lose more than 1-2# per week, it's likely just water weight and you will gain it back. It isn't fat loss.

If you lose more than 2lbs a week you're harming your body. So don't strive for that.
