of rounding up random drunks on election night; getting them even drunker, beating them, making them switch clothes and sending them out to vote repeatedly for your party?

Hey, the random drunks couldn't do much worse than the modern "educated and informed" American voter. Funny you should mention that, however. Some historians speculate that Edgar Allen Poe died in after being drugged by lower-level political workers and used in just that way . He was found unconscious on the street the morning after election day by an innkeeper who recognized him. And he shall vote nevermore!

No. And I also don't agree with the practice of offering free meals at restaurants and transportation for inner-city folks if they vote a particular way. That's what the Dems do in my neighborhood. It disgusts me. I close the door in their faces. My vote can't be bought.

That's funny, they didn't have to do that when Al Gore was running. There were 5 college students who went to 5 different voting stations and voted 5 different times for Gore. That's democratic mentality for you.

As I recall, it was done quite frequently in the USA during the 19th century and even into the 20th.

Your point being? Or were you just going for the obscure historical reference?

That is why most states don't sell alcohol on election day at least not until the polls close.

I'm sure the Democrats would approve of it. They use similar tactics quite often. Welfare and government subsidies are two of their known "alcohols".

Conservatism wins the day based on truth, not drunkenness.

(BTW if you get them more drunk, does Hillary become attractive?)
