I get this message when I try to view (some) videos. Can you tell me why and how to fix it? "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found."

CODEC stansds for coder/decoder. It's a driver (sorta) that interprets the video compilation streams. There are dozens of codecs out there, but the most common are usually DIVX and XVID. Do a Google search for G-Spot Codec Analyzer. If you run G-Spot, and drag the video onto it, it will analyze it and tell you what codecs you need. You can then google search for that particular codec.

Download the K-Lite codec pack. Highly recommended and easy to install. It has the commonly used codecs and a few handy little tools.

I had the same problem, here is a site where you can get the Xvid codec, it is needed to decode some videos.
