Michael Yon: On the morning of 12 January 2007 troopers of 2/7 Cav, and this correspondent, loaded aboard four Blackhawk helicopters in Mosul for a simultaneous air-ground operation east of Mosul, in conjunction with the Iraqi Army. LTC Eric Welsh commanded. Unlike the Ia Drang Valley this 7th Cavalry air assault succeeded without resistance or casualties.
No resistance? Hmm. What did they succeed at, exactly? It might have been a fine practice mission. If they meant to fight, no resistance is not a success. The enemy melted away.
Bill Roggio: Al-Qaeda regroups in Pakistan The American intelligence community finally recognizes al-Qaeda command has regrouped in Pakistan.
Got this in spades from the regular media, all channels, every week, not a secret. And the most obvious reason to say we belong in Afghanistan, not Iraq. They are getting ideas from tactics tried out in Iraq and Iraq is draining our resources.
The last 3 are soldier's blogs, two mentioning soldiers who died doing what they wanted to do – help Iraq. Lately soldiers interviewed on NBC & ABC basicaly told anti-war people to shut up, even more directly. These have reports of various issues I'd heard of, including padding the roster of Iraqi units to get more pay.
I hadn't read these before. They don't seem to paint a picture that is completely opposite to what I've heard from the regular media.
Am thinking about what I would do as President. Right now, I'm thinking give this new plan a chance, but also thinking that the war can't go on forever just to avoid quitting.

OK, so I took the time to read at least some of all of these writers. What I saw was descriptions of battles and injuries sustained, fear, talk about Afghanistan and Pakistan, some good news about Iraqis possibly being able to take over the war, discussion of news I'd seen elsewhere.
So I've read them and I've come to the conclusion that no, we don't belong in Iraq. And it isn't the right thing to do.

Truth is very subjective and these fellas prove it. There are just as many folks on the other side of the issue that could convince you (if you cared to be convinced) that Iraq is just the wrong deal all the way around.
I really don't get it folks...I don't care a lick about the Iraqis...why do so many of you??

I write to troops in Iraq, so yes, I do read writers out of Iraq. Some of them think that what we're doing there is what we're supposed to be doing. A few think our job is mostly done, because there's now an Iraqi leadership, and they've asked us to leave. And a couple think that what we're doing in Iraq is what we should be doing in Afghanistan. There isn't even a consensus amongst our troops, dude.

Sorry--there's a reason Y!A limits the length of their questions. I don't have the time to read all that just now, though I'll get back to it.
That said, what you're implying they say is why I (and most Democrats) think we need a *phased* withdrawal, so that the Iraqis have a chance to get used to being in charge as we slowly take away more and more of their foreign support.

Do you think that the anti-war types want to hear from actual eyewitnesses?
They would rather listen to the political opinions of people who have no clue about what is going on over there.
BTW - did you notice that the LA Times published an obviously doctored photo claiming the US was involved in a terrorist attack?

Ummm...everyone of your listed citizen journalists have right wing ties or members of the military, thus as biased as your "regular media."
And no it isn't the right thing to do. How many people have died to take down one man?
EDIT
ursustrad...
Replace "liberal" with "conservative" and you have an equally true statement.

In my lifetime, I noticed two things that never fail.
1) A liberal who is backed into an intellectual corner will always use an insult against his or her opponent
2) A liberal who is confronted with anything that conflicts with their world view will either ignore it or discredit it

It's not possible to ask a liberal to wake up and smell the jihad when their noses are stuck up Hillary's, Obama's, and Pelosi, Kerry, Murtha, et al (s) aszzes.

yes. its the right thing to do. the democrats just want to ride on the wave of popular anti war sentiments for VOTES. and if the war is popular, they will support too. they don't really care abt the war, they care only abt the VOTES.
