It's just human nature. Women like to be surrounded by people. We tend to enjoy human connections a lot more than men. We feel safer in groups. I don't think I would feel comfortable going to a club or bar at night by myself. There is a sense of security and safeness when you go out with a bunch of people. For men, it's different they are able to take care of themselves at night. I don't think I would feel safe walking around at night alone. There is a lot of creeps out there. During the day, I do a lot of things alone. Go to the gym, shoppping, and eating. Well, try approaching the women during the day when they are alone then! If you are confident then a girl in a big group should not bother you. Get her alone if you don't want to deal with the group. Ask her to step outside for a moment or pull her aside!

See, it doesn't matter that the 'jerks' are the ones that approach in those situations. Women are attracted to confidence above all else. In the context of your question, they are weeding out the guys that lack confidence by staying in groups. That way only the guys who are confident approach, and they don't have to reject a wimpy guy as often. Work on your confidence, champ, and approach them in that situation anyway.

Because all of the non-single women are off screwing around with their significant others? Just kidding...
Well, I think single woman always hang out in groups because
1. It's beats being alone
and
2. Single woman have more in common with other singles since they're single, too (I hope that made sense).

Because a lot of times men act like if a woman is alone at a bar or club, then she is looking to pick someone up or go home with them. It's sad but true. Women tend to stay in groups because it is safer.

Ummm, single women hang out in groups because they have lives beyond looking for a man. What would be the point of hanging out alone? That sounds like lots of fun. Single women hang out in groups because they don't have boyfriends!

no loser guys will confront a girl in a group, only a decent guy has balls to go approach a group of women. SO pretty much groups help repel the crap thats floating around.
That sounded pretty damn good, I just made it up
