I already have not completely steady hands but when I am in a new or unfamiliar situation they get much worse, due to my nervousness, it is so embarrasing, I recently started a new job and my hands were trembling so badly, people must have noticed, it was awful, do u think I need to get some kind of medication for this?

Depending how much your hands shake....only if they are stopping you from having your job, from eating, brushing your hair etc. then you should consider talking medications for help - and ONLY those which doctor recomends you!
I can't say any diagnoses by little what you wrote...basecly, it could be just normal tremor everybody have. But there are other possibilities, which you could only find out if you visit your doctor. I can only mention some - maybe you have Essential Tremors. It is genetic movement disorder. Main symptoms are tremors in any part of the body, but they are constant...only increesed by stress, high levels of any emotions. As i said they run in a family so if you have someone who shakes too, you might wonna check for the name of the condition person has.
Other thing could be refered to Anxiety Disorder, maybe even Social Phobia (as you mention that new social situations and new people make you nervouse). It can happen to anybody, it is very common, curable but it takes time and hard work! Mainly it happend due to the low selfasteem, fear of being judged, fear of embarassing situations, fear of being the center of the attention etc. Among many symptoms of Social Phobia/ Anxiety (hard breathing, heart racing, chest pain - feels almost like a heart attack, cold sweats, confusion, unexplained fear etc.) is also shaking or trembling.
As you see possibilities are big, but with little informations this is all i could say.
However, hope it helps somehow, and if you need someone to talk to feel free to write me an email:

Easy... don't use your hands for support. Start with a tripod. If you can't use a tripod, look into cheap alternatives to "steadycam" technology. At the most primitive, you need a heavy-ended stick that your camera will mount to. With about $10.35 at a hardware store, you can buy a bolt that will fit the tripod thread on your camcorder. From there, you need a short threaded pipe (1 - 2 feet), about 1" in diameter, one endcap and one flange for said pipe. You'll need to trill a hole in the endcap for the bolt to pass thru. This will attach to the camera. Then, you slide some weight on the other end of the pipe, and use the flange to keep it on. Voila! Insta steadycam! Also, look for things to support yourself. Lean on a doorframe. Put your elbows on your knees. Etc.

Hmmm.. clutch both your hands together, and keep that hold.

If you stick your hands in your pockets, people *may* not notice.

You might be cold - hold your hands to your face.

Try to think of something that relaxes you as soon as it happens.
