I have owned many different 22 cal firearms. The short answer is there isn't one. Every gun has a different preference and this can even change from lot number to lot number (on the ammo box), you just have to try different brands and makes in that brand and find the one that gun prefers. once you've found it stock up on that type.

Depends on the gun, .22LR is cheap, buy several different brands and see which is the most consistant in your firearm. We used Federal "American Eagle" in the MKIII we rented at the range, 4 failures out of 100 rounds.
