how long does it take to get one after applying?

It may take longer than typical these days because the U.S just made it a requirement for all Canadians to have a passport when they go into the U.S. That means Canadian customs is backlogged trying to process all the rush of passport applications. So if it normally takes a month, you might be looking at around 2 months now.

It is posted as 45 working days. 20 working days normal service, plus a 25 working day delay right now. 10 and 25 if you apply in person.
The only thing you can pay extra is to pick it up (if there is an office near you) and all that saves is the time you expect it would be delayed in the mail. There is an emergency one day service available for an additional $70, AND if you have an emergency. I bought a airline ticket and need a passport is not considered an emergency.

Right now, 45 days as the Passport office is backlogged due to the number of applications coming in. They are working as hard as they can.
They used to be able to get it to you faster, but right now it is on a case by case basis. That means death in family, not I need a vacation.
Best bet...go to a receiving agent and get them to check over your completed application before you send it in. That way if there are any mistakes they can tell you then...rather than when they get to your application and reject it.

u can get same day if u pay urgent fee(once Oath and all other formaliites are done)Normalyy they take 2-3 weeks
