Jehovah's Witnesses are generally quite unimpressed with material things. The best gift to give to a Jehovah's Witness who is moving away is a modest phone card (or postage stamps) with a note expressing affection for the person and a sincere desire to keep in touch.

Most anything none religious or containing sexually offensive or suggestive material. Are they buying a new home? Perhaps a Do-It-Yourself book, or tools, though a picture of you and your family would also be nice. As for the suggestion of the person about getting a real Bible, you will learn they already have one, depending on what a real Bible is? Most witnesses have up to five different versions of the Bible, including the King James.

It is very nice of you to do the research for buying a proper gift to your witness friend! I am sure he/she would appreciate it very much.

Basically any gift is fine as long as there is not any religious or spiritistic attatchment to it. Picture frames, mugs, wine glasses, towels, silverware, pot plants, handbags, candles, puzzles, alarm clocks, clothing such as scarves, gloves.....the list could go on and on.

If you wish to buy music CDs or movies on DVDs, you need to be more careful. You may need to ask if a certain CD or DVD is okay with them. Same with books.

They will not appreciate anything that promotes nationalism so avoid anything that has a big national flag on it, too.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Mr Ed gave a really good answer.

I'd have to say just plain ole Cash.

If they are relocating they need gas money, money for the move, new grocery at the new location. And they may need additional supplies for the move.

Cash is the easiest and the most helpful.

Any house warming gift. If you are not a member of his faith, don't try to give him a religious gift: either he has it already, or it could be something actually offensive to his faith, without you knowing it.
So go for a nice house plant, or some decorative piece of furniture.

The idea of getting him a "real Bible" as someone above has said .... while I simpathize with his convictions, I don't believe that would be useful. It would only provoke, and not convince.

Maybe a phone card and your number.. make it easier to contact one another... That and a card with some type of thoughtful saying enclosed.
