Evil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
For other uses, see Evil (disambiguation).
In religion and ethics, Evil refers to the morally objectionable aspects of the behaviour and reasoning of human beings — those which are deliberately void of conscience, and show a wanton penchant for destruction. Evil is sometimes defined as the absence of a good which could and should be present; the absence of which is a void in what should be. In most cultures, the word is used to describe acts, thoughts, and ideas which are thought to (either directly or causally) bring about affliction and death — the opposite of goodness, which itself refers to aspects which are life-affirming, peaceful, and constructive.
Perhaps evil is best represented in the human situation in the form of unprovoked hatred against and coupled with an aggressive impulse to cause harm to another person or group. Such hatred can be aroused from within the individual or group through jealousy, wrong teachings or due to unexplained extra-personal forces.

I do not have a "capital E" definition of evil -- as far as I'm concerned, evil is a function of human perception, not a universal force. And for most people, "evil" seems to translate into "whatever causes me (or those I identify with) pain or harm".
The closest I can come to a personal, global definition of evil is "that which actively violates another individual and causes them harm against their will without (a) being necessary, or (b) ultimately leading to positive or beneficial outcomes in some other way".
What can I say? I'm half Utilitarian, half Enlightened Egoist.

Error suggests lack of intellectual keenness; evil, deficiency of wisdom; sin, abject spiritual poverty; but iniquity is indicative of vanishing personality control and when sin has so many times been chosen and so often repeated it may become habit. And habitual sinners can become iniquitous.
This is what happened to Lucifer. He reached the point of no return.
Evil is error...
Sin is repeated error...
Iniquity is habitual error in which the point of no return is reached.....
Evil is not: yin/yang positive-negative - there is no equal competition between God and Iniquity or the devil.
Hope this may shed some new light on an old ?
Peace...

Anything that is not TRUTH, as God and Truth are the same thing. Evil can disguise its self as truth, and appear to be the right thing. The only way you can know the difference between the Truth and the near truth is to have the Truth in you. When the truth is the mirror of your soul then you are getting there. You may still flounder around in the lie for a while but the light of Truth will eventually reveal the false reality. Learn what God did though His creation of Jesus and what Jesus did for us here on Earth. When you open that door you will open the door, not to religion, but to Truth/God Himself.

Evil is alive. It walks, talks, and breathe just as we do. We are evil when we choose to do nothing but terrible things to one another.

Evil is a word used to describe overly inappropriate behaviors. IE killing and other acts that the majority have deemed improper.

I was just thinking about this earlier today.
There is no such thing as evil. There are people who live in extreme fear, ignorance and anger who have closed their hearts to love.

Shakespeare said, " Nothing is evil lest man say it is so"
We are making it all up.
