What does it mean to be a born again Christian? The classic passage from the Bible that answers this question is John 3:1-21. The Lord Jesus Christ is talking to Nicodemus, a prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (a ruler of the Jews). Nicodemus had come to Jesus at night. Nicodemus had questions to ask Jesus.
As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said "...Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again...." (John 3:3-7).
The phrase "born again" literally means "born from above." Nicodemus had a real need. He needed a change of his heart--a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes (2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1-4, 18). John 1:12,13 indicates that "born again" also carries the idea "to become children of God" through trust in the name of Jesus Christ.
The question logically comes, "Why does a person need to be born again?" The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1 says, "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins..." To the Romans in Romans 3:23, the Apostle wrote, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." So, a person needs to be born again in order to have their sins forgiven and have a relationship with God.
How does that come to be? Ephesians 2:8,9 states, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast." When one is "saved," he/she has been born again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of God by right of new birth. Trusting in Jesus Christ, the One who paid the penalty of sin when He died on the cross, is what it means to be "born again" spiritually. "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation..." (2 Corinthians 5:17a).
If you have never trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, will you consider the prompting of the Holy Spirit as He speaks to your heart? You need to be born again. Will you pray the prayer of repentance and become a new creation in Christ, today? "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe on His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:12-13).
If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and be born again, here is a sample prayer. Remember, saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. It is only trusting in Christ that can save you from sin. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your salvation. "God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness - the gift of eternal life! Amen!

Taking a part of what I said in an answer to someone elses question here is my answer:
You must trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior (Romans 5:1).
I don't want to just leave it at that since people sometimes read some bizarre things into statements like that. Some people may just simply not know what that means.
Jesus who is God took human form. He lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15). Something we all know we can't do (Romans 3:23). He paid the penalty for us by dying on the cross (Ephesians 1:7). Ever since Adam and Eve first sinned we have all been tainted (Romans 5:14). This pain and suffering in the world is because of our sin. Even the earth has been effected by sin (Romans 8:22). The great thing is things will be made the way God intended. There will be no fighting or cancer. We won't have people starving or worrying about paying their bills. We won't be messing up in life like we do now.
This may sound too easy, well think about it. To be saved you have to deny that your good works won't help you to get saved. You have to say I'm sorry of my sin and Jesus, you are my Lord (Luke 13:3). That means there has to be a very humble heart involved otherwise a person will never be saved (James 4:6). Being humble doesn't come easy in this culture.

In the bible it says that the Lord will make you a new being.. a new creation. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 it says "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" It also says in Jhon 14:6 " Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." meaning that we need to be holy to be with God in heaven. You need to believe that Christ died for your sins and that he is the only way to heaven. We have sinned, making us unholy. Back then they used to sacrafice animals to cover our sins because God demanded blood payment for sins. Jesus Christ is The "Lamb of God" or the HOLY SACRAFICE. He covered all the sins of everyone who accepts him. Because he has saved many from eternal death(hell)....(yes, it is real, it is mentioned several times in the Bible. Anyways...Because he has saved many from eternal death...many have dedicated their lives to sharing the gift they have recieved with others since it is open to everyone. If you really want to know HOW. Go ask one of them. They are called Pastors. Or youth ministry workers. Etc. Etc. Or you could just pray to God. Admiting you are a sinner(it's all apart of repentance) and then accepting Jesus into your heart. It's really easy. Just ask! I am not saying that you will not be saved if you don't go to church. But it is a good idea. It will help you learn about your savior. Reading your bible helps too. It is like letters God wrote to you telling you of dangers to avoid, his promises to you, and things that will happen (prophicies). Don't tell me that they are not accurate or have never happend. All of the prophecies that have been fullfilled have been accurate. I promise. So there you have it. It's complicated yet simple. To make it even more simple. GO TO CHURCH! THEY'LL EXPLAIN IT EASIER THAN I CAN!

You have to accept Jesus into your heart. Admit that you are a sinner, and that you need Christ in your life. You can't live without Him. Then find a church, get involved. You have to be willing to give your life to Christ... and that means change. Read your Bible, pray, go to church, strive to live for Him. Talk to a Pastor or someone you know who is a born again Christian. You need help and encouragement from other believers. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me. I'd love to help you out any way that I can!

You don't but you can go into God's heavens by believe and trusting in what He did for you on the cross. He died for your sins, He was buried and took your sins away and He rose again the third day for your justification. Believe and trust in that. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 4: 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

well first you have to die.(1 Corinthians 15:50) 50 However, this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom, neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
(1 Corinthians 15:40-41) . . .heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly bodies is one sort, and that of the earthly bodies is a different sort. 41 . . .
