Ah, you want East Coast waves. The trouble is not only that the waves can be very large, but the water is very cold. The water comes south from Alaska, not north from the Gulf of Mexico. If the waves are larger, then why did they name it the "Pacific" (peaceful) Ocean? Go figure.

In addition to the previously mentioned beaches, try Newport Dunes in Newport Beach (in Newport Bay), or my personal favorite, Carpinteria State Beach near Santa Barbara. It's called The World's Safest Beach, and the Channel Islands block the big waves from there.

Most of the beaches here are good for swimming. The surf is rarely very high unless there's a storm.

You won't find a beach with "no" waves because it is a beach.

none of the beaches in actual los angles are good, your better off going to Orange county
