Assuming you are using the term narcissistic as such:
Thinking too highly of oneself: conceited, egoistic, egoistical, egotistic, egotistical, vain, vainglorious. Informal bigheaded, stuck-up, swellheaded.

I would think the reason he likes coming over is to boost himself?
So, perhaps the easiest way would be first to stop feeding his ego.

I find a passive defense is least likely to stir up hard feelings, but persistence is key here, it likely won't happen overnight and it could take several months.
Then again, 1-2 visits and it's over could happen also, you never know.

But I would try that for a while...

In my experience, it's difficult to exclude a person without losing contact with those who are married to or parented by that person. At a certain age, whatever you say or claim will not be remembered and you are back to square one. The other person can agree and commit to leaving you alone, but if they forget that it was made, all bets are off.

The most direct approach is to relocate your family by going to work for a company in another state. It is unlikely that he will change.

Write him a letter indicating you don't want to see him. Make copy. If he shows up at your house call 911 and file a restraining order. He should get the idea pretty soon.

Boundaries are of the utmost importance! If he starts talking about himself listen politely. If he changes the subject to talk about himself, politely redirect him back by saying, "that's great Dad, but we were talking about...." If you just want him to stay away, you will just have to tell him. You can not expect him to decided on his own if he does not know how you feel.

Tell him what my father always said to people who care only about themselves, "Cut the s*&t."

Hopefully, he gets over himself.
