Every two weeks from 2 to 8 weeks old. So, a puppy should be wormed at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, and 8 weeks old. Then, you can worm once a month until the puppy is 6 months old. So, you would work at 3 months, 4 months, 5 months, and 6 months. After that you can deworm at 1 year of age and every year after that. Giving a monthly heartworm preventative gets rid of most worms, so worming an adult dog once a year is usually sufficient. Unless your dog shows obvious signs of worms, you don't need to worm any more than that. Unless you know what you are doing, it is best to have a vet worm your puppy. It is very possible to overdose a puppy on worming medication. Your vet will know just how much to give. Clean up your puppy's poop immediately when deworming, because the worm eggs will come out in the feces and if the puppy plays near it, the puppy will get the worms all over again. There are over-the-counter brands, but prescription-strength medicine is sure to kill any parasite.

2 times at the vets. there is a diffrence between what the vet use's and what you buy over the counter. since they have to go to the vets anyway. you might as well have it done there. your not saving any money by doing it over the counter
