Poor kiddo, Listen Tell your Mom you have a responsibility for this cat, You have been through too much together to just give it away. And that she needs to get herself to a doctor and get on some better medication because you will not abandon your friend!! If she sees how strongly you feel she may change her tune!!

Maybe you should do the sweeping and vacuuming for a while and see if that helps your Mom !!

But DO NOT Give up your Kitty. Sounds like the two of you are meant to be best friends and if you give her up you will regret it for the rest of your life !!!

First off, I work with rescue animals, and I have a great amount of respect for you for taking care of an orphan with a broken paw. You could try talking to your vet to see if there are any products you could apply to your cat that are safe for it and would also maybe lessen whatever it is about the cat that your mom is allergic too (dander,fur,etc.). Also, If I was your Mom I would talk to my allergist. It is odd that her meds worked for awhile, but not now. Maybe she has developed a tolerance to her meds and needs a higher dose/different prescription. This is just a guess as I know next to nothing about allergies. I would try brushing the cat so shedded hair with cat dander is not all over the place. I have 4 housecats and 1 foster housecat and we brush ours 2 times a day. Also, I know its kind of a pain, but vacuum everyday. Also, try to keep the cat in your bedroom as much as possible. I don't know if any of this will help, but I hope so. Also, if you DO end up having to get rid of the cat, please try ads in the paper and flyers etc. to find it a good home and NOT take it to the pound. Also, if it comes to that, you could try to find a no kill animal or cat shelter/sanctuary. Even if ts a couple hours from your home, it would be worth the trip. GOOD LUCK!

That's odd
Usually she should have been allergic from the start.
They have some great allergy medication on the market.

The best way (if it is the cat) is to make sure that the animal stays out of your mom's bedroom. Also every time you play with the cat, you need to wash your hands prior to going near your mother (This will help).
Also make sure you change the filters on the furnace they do have some that will remove 99% of pet dander from the air

Have you changed the food? If the cat is shedding more than before, it could also be aggravating your mom's allergies. Usually with time, your system builds up immunities against the allergies.

Perhaps your mom could go through a series of allergy shots? These work very well to build up an immunity to the cat dander. Bathing the cat helps reduce dander as well.

Hope you find a solution that works for both of you!

If your mom has developed allergies a year afterwards it is probably from something else and not the cat. She should check into foods that she is eating, etc...
But if she is not willing then I would tell your mom that you will keep your cat in your room so that it won't bother her anymore. Let her know that you love your kitty and that you would be very upset if she gave her away.
It is very stressful to a cat to get moved especially to a different home and people. The cat could easily get sick over the stress of the move.
Good luck!

Sweetheart..who do you love more..your cat or your mother?
If your mother is deathly allergic to this cat, it is in yours and your mothers best interest to get rid of this cat.I know it will not be easy, but if you could find someone who is very close to you to give him to...you would be able to see him as often as you wanted!I know it would not be the same, but you could at least see him!
Lots of luck and may you make the wise decision!

Has your Mom tried allergy injections? They are usually given biweekly to monthly and help a lot for severe allergies. Maybe she can try that. I would hate to see you lose your cat!

You need to isolate the cat in another room. Vacuum, dust frequently. You can use Fabreze to pull the hair from the furniture/floor.

Brush the cat frequently and dispose of hair in plastic bag.

Hope you get to keep it.
