do doctors just start them up from scratch, or are there consulting firms or something of that nature that get them all sent up? seems kinda daunting with everything that goes into it. anybody know some names of such firms if they do exist?

i mean like a doctor's office.... if i a doctor wanted to open his own office (practice) how do they go about doing that (and i realize things are going the opposite way, from private practices to doctors being employees). does the doctor do all the work setting the place up themselves or are there businesses that help get them established?

no im actually a Pharm.D student, im doing an entreprenurial project for school and im suppose to come up with a new pharmacy related business/business plan. clinical pharmacy is expected to start booming since medicare is in the process of giving pharmacists billing codes for cognitive services. my idea was to start a consulting firm that helps get clinical pharmacists into business, provides them with support materials like software, forms, etc (surveys/studies show most pharmacists dont feel comfortable with marketing and business aspects). i wasnt sure if similar firms existed for MD practices or how they get into business and whether it could be a profitable idea or not

This is what I have done for years. There are firms to do this yet they are quite expensive and it is much more in your interest to do it yourself. Are you asking for you (md) or is this answer suitable? Please type in any additional facts - where located / specialty, as i have just been going thru my paper work to disgard...
And what the heck is Michael Angelo above talking about?? They certainly still do occur, tho group practices have become a bit more common. Private practice can still be successful.. and there are many. ... and if you still need codes for your request i have them all- as i most often set up urology practices.

Yu usually buy an existing office and clientel from a doctor moving or retiring. Very expense. usually work a cool million.
YOu can ALSO start your own. You just rent an office in a medical building. Hire a nurse. Bring in some equipment that costs a bundle. But then you have to get clients.

Private Medical Practices don't usually occur, unless the fact that there has been much Medical, as well as Scientific research proven that it will not be harmful, or no side affects what sooo ever are found. If so, there might be a bill to get it passed which it has to go through a process of court.
Usually, if everything is fine, it wouldn't be private, it would usually be an opnely manner practice.

I get junk mail from these people routinely, so consultants certainly exist, but they go in the bin with the rest of the junk mail. Sorry. Quite a few of the shrinking minority who prefer solo practice have contracts with/help from a local hospital. Expect to go into serious debt if this is your plan.
