We really like the name Lucas (Luke for short) but are concerned about the origin. We are Jewish, although not particularly religious, but we still want to make sure we are choosing an appropriate name. Does anyone have any thoughts that would be helpful?

I wouldn't worry about it. Many non-religious people name their children religious names. Heck, I've heard of people who are atheists naming their kids "Christian", I don't quite get that.

Also, I believe that Luke (St. Luke- the man who wrote "Luke" in the new testament) was a Jew. So I think you're okay. :) I really like Lucas Aaron.

I would say you are good going with Lucas/Luke. Society is WAAAY past the point that they look at the religious conotations of a name. If you both really like the name, I say you endow your child with it. Good Luck!
