I would love to since New Orleans is like two and a half hours away from me here; I was truly hurting for my sister city when we first heard(we were out of power as well in Mobile from Katrina)the stories coming out of New Orleans the first couple of days after Katrina struck; but I know how a hurricane can be; We here on the Gulf Coast are so used to hurricane warnings that sometimes we really are not prepared when something like Katrina comes along; But I would love to ask folks to also come to Gulfport, Miss, Pass Christian, Waveland, Biloxi. Those places are barely recovering and I am a bit ticked that folks are only speaking on New Orleans though I have no disrespect for their pain; I am just asking that the Miss.Gulf Coast(from Hancock, Harrison and Jackson Counties)be explored as well as other Miss. towns above these counties as well as some points of Alabama like Bayou la Batre, Grand Bay, Irvington too; these places are devastated and should be explored as well; I had two daughters that were with their father in Gulfport Miss and they went through this hurricane; for almost a week, I had NO contact with them and didn't know if they were dead or alive; they ended up calling one week after the storm. So please go there too; they are still in recovery.

I was in New Orleans last April/May. It was still not back to normal. We drove in on one of the main highways, and there was the word HELP still spray painted on someone's roof, in plain view of the highway. It was sad.

We also drove thorugh Biloxi, Mississippi. In my opinion Biloxi, along the coast line, was in worse shape than anything I saw in New Orleans. There were stilts with no houses on them. Gas station and resturant (like those Denny's signs you see in front of the resturant) signs that were nearly completely destroyed with no gas station or resturant attached. The cemetary had grave stones knocked over, and one house had a huge tree laying right down the middle. I have a picture of a house with " You loot, we shoot" spray painted across the front.

It's was hard to belive a single storm could cause that much destruction across two states. I hope it never happens again.

No, and I will probably never visit New Orleans again. I don't see why people want to party in such a crime-infested city? Then you have these drunken buffoons who are packing what is left of the city for Mardi Gras. No thanks.

Worked there shortly after, and have been back several times. Don't care for the 'party' scene, but have been on cruises, go to french quarter, etc. Even now it is a long way from being safe and normal
