I have been charged Fed. Excise Tax on my cellphone bill,can I deduct those this year?

Yes, you can either add them up from the bills, or deduct a flat $30 for a one-person household, $40 for two, $50 for three, or $60 for four or more person household.

It's actually better than a deduction, it's a credit. You enter the amount in the "payments" section of your 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ, near where you enter your amount withheld from your paycheck.

If you are not filing a return, you can still claim the credit by filing a form 1040EZ-T.

There is a flat rate deduction on the tax form, unless you have all 3 years cell phone bills, it will be more beneficial to take the flat rate, for a single person this is 30.00 if there are other dependants on your return the amount goes up to a maximum of 60.00
