The Russians were just whipping boys meant to slaughter their own forces until the Western Allies could open up a second front. They succeeded in nothing but killing their own troops. Had the British, Americans, and Canadians not landed at Normandy the Germans would have crushed the Russians promptly. Patton and Monty were ordered by Eisenhower to slow down so that the Russians could catch up to them, The British and Americans should have taken Berlin but Eisenhower wanted to be friendly with the Russians, lot of good that did.

You'll note that an awful lot of that 'weight of Soviet Arms' came from...the United States of America.
The Soviets took the brunt of the casualties and ate up HUGE numbers of Nazi troops and equipment.
Without the United States, the Russians would have lost. As it was, it was a very near thing for them. Without the Soviet Union, the United States and the UK would have been fighting for a LOT longer, but the outcome wasn't in doubt. Round about 1945, things would've gotten a lot um...hotter...for the Nazis. They lacked the heavy water and other resources needed to develop the bomb. We didn't.

Do you really believe we didn't?! Eisenhower allowed the Soviets, NOT the "Russians," to take Berlin because of the atrocities perpetrated on the Soviets in the USSR by the Nazis. American forces literally "hung back" to let the Soviets go in per the agreements made in the last meeting between FDR, Stalin and Churchill. Further, how about the Pacific Theater?! The Soviets didn't even get there! You really should either study your history or watch a bit of the History Channel.

I am English and I believe that the USA,BRitain and its empire and Russia were essential in winning the war.
One think I cant understand about Americans is how they claim they won the war against Japan single handed what about the aussies,New Zealand and the various British Empire forces and the Chinese who were fighting the japs for years before the rest of us?
Just a couple of facts John Wayne never really fought and even though Erroyl Flynn made a film about how the yanks liberated Burma it was pure fiction.
America didnt beat anyone by themselves and neither did anyone else thats what allies are about.

It was no country alone that won World War 2. First of all, werent the Nazis winning the war before the americans came in? When the americans came in the war started to turn against the nazis. Also, the americans beat the Japanese with almost no help from other nations. And, the Soviets took out the Germans but the Americans played a substatial role as well. So it was really the Americans and Soviets that won the war. Thats why they came out as Superpowers after the war.

All allies contributed and while lives are misplaced it relatively is a comfortable difficulty to call one single u . s . a .. even though great Britain grow to be the considerable allied u . s . a ., yet we ought to consistently no longer forget approximately that people who would desire to flee from France, Belgium, Poland, Holland, Austria, Norway all landed up interior the united kingdom. We must additionally undergo in strategies that some human beings volunteered and got here to visit to the united kingdom earlier their u . s . a . entered the conflict, as did the Canadians and another international locations that believed interior the Allied attempt and necessity. The Commonwealth, many times, did their significant area, remembering that that the Commonwealth grow to be no longer in basic terms Australia, New Zealand and Canada, yet many others joined freely and who's purely no longer forgotten. This created a huge style of persons who had to be housed and fed in Britain. So the yankee contribution began nicely earlier their statement of conflict. The human beings geared up their Liberty ships very without postpone and commenced a pass of ingredients, oil, nutrition and all the should in a position the Allies shop the front from being invaded. This grow to be the explanation Hitler‘s considerable tactic grow to be to sink those grant vessels with their U submarines. Britain would desire to no longer have confronted the assaults without those ingredients. Taking all under consideration it relatively is incredibly confusing to pinpoint one given u . s . a . as having gained the conflict. It grow to be a joint attempt with Russia attacking the from the East area and the different allies from all different facets. i do no longer think that the human beings stake a declare for having gained the conflict, yet without their help, earlier and after, this would have been an impossible job. So cheers to all the Allies, great or small as they might have been, or the only undercover agent who, on his own risked his existence to deliver powerful guidance, you all are the victors and shall by no ability be forgotten.

Yeh but we Brits spent more time than anyone fighting, were at one point the only ones fighting the Nazis. We also fought against the Japanese and used subjects of the Empire in our fight against them, ie Aussies and Indians. The US were not the only ones fighting the Japanese they just get all the credit. It is never mentioned the efforts of the British and its Empire in the Pacific. We also fought in Africa. So Africa ( which WE won ), Europe and the Pacific from the first battle in all but the Pacific.
So maybe the Russians lost more men of the Yanks built more stuff everyone played their part and everyone celebrated when it was over.

first off maybe you should know a little more about World War 2 before you even ask the question. Yes, from what we basically were told in school it basically was about the Germans. we fought the Japs in that war 2. I don't know if you recall we was attack by them at Pearl Harbor. They did wake us since we are the sleeping giant as they said. The we lost more men on IWO JIMA then we did any where else. Our country was bankruptcy in those days to. that when they brought out the war bonds. we did win apart of world war 2 and i never knew that we claimed that we did win the whole war. the war was won regardless on who won it. really it wasn't about who won. they were defeated is what the real word should be not won. there is more facts about that war that alot of people don't even know about. Hitler had the the man power and the intelligent. but he did mess up! to concur the war to take over the world. so if i was u i would do more reading about the war before you even ask question like that. I could go on about it but i won't.

Really? Seems to me the Russians lost over 23 million people in that war (almost 14% of their population) and had large areas of land devastated by the war. The US lost about 419,000 people (less than 1/3 of 1% of our population) and with the exception of Pearl Harbor and the attack on the Aleutian Islands emerged unscathed from the war.
