Lately I have been feeling horrible. I just want to stay in my room. I have been in bad moods and won't say a word to my family. I'm not really moody around everyone, mainly my family. I have had trouble falling asleep and trouble waking up. I often feel like my friends don't care and I have had emptiness inside, like a weight in my chest. I am normally a happy person. I also have cut myself a few times. I've tried to tell my mom but she doesn't listen.

Sorry when I say I have cut myself a few times, I mean recently. I went about a month without doing it but in the past few weeks I have cut myself about 5 times. It started a few years ago but it never was an everyday thing. Usually when I'm stressed, depressed, or feel really guilty about something. Could this be a sign of depression.

You do need to talk to someone about it. It is depression, and there is help available to you. I know, because when I was 18, I began to suffer from depression. It was very difficult. I too suffered from bad moods and I wanted to just stay in my room and make everyone go away. But avoiding help does nothing but make the situation worse. If you do not feel comfortable talking with your family, talk with a teacher, doctor, or friend. They can help steer you in the right direction. Your mom SHOULD be loving and care about what you are going through. The first step to getting better is letting someone know what you are going through.
