My nephew is planning to marry a "physician" in El Salvadore" and would like to know what other qualifications (i.e. schooling, experience, etc.) she would need to become a medical doctor in the U.S.? Would she just need to pass the medical board exam, or are there other educational/sponsorship requirements. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!

If your university experience is transferrable you might be able to grandfather in. You will probably need to intern at a teaching hospital under supervision and then apply for a local license.

You will probably also need some continuing education classes.
