I don't know why people do it.. I hate it though, it's pretty annoying. Me and my boyfriend have 15 years between us, might seem strange but we click and it works for us. He's not a pedo and it's not all about sex, and we've been together for almost a year, and going strong ^.^

Edit after reading JSquare's answer: Yes, some people (like me and my boyfriend - 15 years, and Dorkzaresexy and hers - 13 years (if I read right?)) DO go out with people who are alot older and are totally happy and head-over-heels in love with their partner. Anything is possible ;)

The majority of relationships entail the guy being older than the woman...however if you mean vastly older it's because the guy is seen as taking advantage of the poor, helpless girl but when the situaiton is reversed people don't seem to think that an older woman could or would take advantage of a much younger guy.

To me, age isn't just a number but that's my view...beyond 10 yrs age difference either way seems to be increasing chances of things not lasting long, less "stuff" in common, and more likely that one or both parties have a motive other than "love" for being together.

It is so coz people fail to realise the bond that binds them together, misses out on those subtle things that they enjoy together. Love is a matter of heart, and to analyse it and dissect it by bringing the age factor is not a just way to judge. What people need to realise is that if two people are happy and content with each other, there is nothing that should bother them, who is the third person in the whole situation. What I finally believe is perhaps it all springs out of jealousy, finding the lack of the same chemistry in their personal life ;)

It's a shame that some people cannot get past their self-imposed limitations. As with almost any controversial issue, you must examine it on a case-by-case basis and not generalize. Take me and my husband, who is 26 years my senior, for instance. We have been married for 11 years, and we are soulmates. We share the same interests, and sometimes we are so attuned to each other that when one of us has an intuition about what the other is thinking or going to say, the other says it before he/she can say it.

I'm not sure. But My boyfriend and are 13yrs apart..and we've heard all types of things and stuff. We don't care thought cause we're in love. so age to us, is jus a number, nothing more. it doesnt make you who you are. By the way my boyfriend and i have been together a little bit over 3years now!

well i guess that would depend on the age difference and the age of the younger girl, as long as she's of legal consenting age don't worry what others think

Whoever says "age is just a number" is probably too immature to realize that years = growth, experience, maturity, character development, and emotional maturity.
