I would say that there are a few primary reasons for some people's disbelief in global warming.
One is that, for years, many politicians and industry executives have tried to cover up evidence that supports global warming. If people don't believe in global warming, then there's not as much reason to stop buying SUVs or to worry about using products that emit greenhouse gases.
Another reason is that, although this issue has been studied by many scientists for some time, it is a complex theory and depends upon the science of climatology. Climate change, especially global climate change, can only really be studied over a period of thousands of years, going back much further than modern scientific records or even intelligible writing systems.
Also, global climate changes like ice ages and warming periods occur in cycles, and like many other natural cycles, they sometimes vary and can be hard to predict. People use tree rings and Carbon-14 dating to trace objects through time, but even these methods can be imprecise or incomplete.
Finally, people are slow to admit that they have a problem, and many people who depend on machines and technology to live their modern lifestyles don't want to admit that they might be causing or contributing to such a large problem.

Global warming is not a religion. So, belief has nothing to do with this subject. Either man caused global warming is true or it is not true. Fervent belief that it is true does not make it so. The case supporting man caused global warming has not been scientifically proved. All the evidence supporting man caused global warming is anecdotal. The fact that "a consensus of scientists support global warming" is a political statement that has nothing to do with science. There are a number of highly qualified atmospheric scientists who do not support the conclusion of man caused global warming.

Don't rely on a movie to give you facts.
Mr. Al Gore's movie left out these facts:
1) 6,000 years ago, the earth was hotter than it is today. 6,000 years is less than a second when compared with the age of the earth.
2) Temperatures dropped in the 1950's and 1990's when CO2 levels were increasing.
3) 140,000 years ago the earth had record CO2 levels and there were no gasoline powered cars.
4) 20,000 years ago, Canada was one big ice cube and half of the U.S. was covered with Ice. The grand canyon was formed by melting ice ages over 20 million years.
5) The temperature of the Earth has only increased by 0.65 of a degree in the last 110 years. There were faster increases in temperatures around 10,000 years ago and there were no gasoline powered cars during that time
6) The theory has not been scientifically proven. Scientists who disagreed with the theory were not invited to contribute to Al Gore's movie nor were they invited to the conference about global warming.
7) NASA has said that great temperature changes are normal. Just 10,000 years ago, the earth warmed up extremely in less than 20 years. There were not many people around at that time.
NASA:
"Rapid changes between ice ages and warm periods (called interglacials) are recorded in the Greenland ice sheet. Occurring over ONE OR TWO DECADES, the warming of the Earth at the end of the last ice age " http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Study/Paleoclimatology_Evidence/Images/gisp2_temperature.gif
9)NASA scientific data has shown most of the changes of temperature are due to changes in the Sun. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all have global warming right now
Also, strong hurricanes are normal. Hundreds of years ago, they used to sink ships off of the coast of Florida.

Because our government has been suppressing and watering-down research and information regarding global warming for years. Because the 2 main parties have turned the issue into a political circus while ignoring the facts.

Well there is such a thing of global warming, but we might not be causing it... Do you know what is the main gas that causes global warming? It's not carbon dioxide, it's water vapor! Yes we are the main cause of the carbon dioxide, but we are a small percentage of water vapor, and carbon dioxide doesn't raise global warming very much. That is not very well known, but it is true.....
if you look at global tempature patterns over many many many years the earth gets hotter, then the earth gets colder then it gets hotter again....
So the answer is because there's not very much evidence that we're the cause of it.

People do not believe in global warming because they can't deal with the fact that THEY are the ones responsible for screwing up the planet. It is a simple lack of responsibility for ones actions.

I tend to believe in global warming, but there are some scientist that do not believe CO2 causes greenhouse effects. I read an article about it and it said that they believe that there is no evidence pointing to CO2 being harmful to the planet.

i'm nevertheless somewhat sceptical, in spite of the reality that i certainly care approximately our wild places. I do even though think of that we ought to consistently take the prospect heavily. The info proves that organic cycles of climate ensue on a grand scale. there have been as quickly as lions, hippos and elephants wandering the united kingdom nation-state, approximately a hundred and twenty,000 years in the past. That grow to be an interglacial heat spell. the element that's no longer disputed, is that those issues take place certainly, in spite of everything the Scottish nation-state is complete of glacial constructive properties. even though, the info ability that our further contribution to international warming is making it take place at a quicker cost than existence can handle. we are talking approximately climate substitute occurring in many years, quite than spanning centuries or hundreds of years. flowers and fauna has coped with climate substitute fairly nicely interior the previous. woodlands and grasslands can pass at their snails p.c.., to maintain music of the situations that suit them. recently there are further subject concerns. we've our flowers and fauna trapped in wallet that are surrounded via farmland. The organic "corridors" are long gone. flowers and fauna charities are doing their ultimate to make our wild places greater joined up. If climate substitute maintains because it relatively is and there is not any area for issues to pass, then we are able to lose plenty. besides, i think of my considerable difficulty is that i do no longer choose it to be actual.

Because to believe there is no global would allow continued use of energy without conservation. Now our president would have to curtail the use of oil dipping into the profits of his friends and backers.
