There is a difference in pride and self-confidence. Pride in our achievements tends to cause us to put our trust in our own skill or abillity rather than in God

there is a difference between being prideful in your achievements and using it to feel superior. The pride you're looking for is the kind where you place yourself higher than someone else because you think your achievements are greater than theirs. It's perfectly fine to make a sandwich and say "now that's a darn good sandwich," but if you go around with a t-shirt saying "best sandwich maker" and smack people in the face with your sandwich, that's the one that not good.

The pride that is spoken of and many have cause people to put themselves above GOD. They feel that they were actually the ones who did whatever achievement. Anything that we are able to do is only so thru our FATHER in Heaven. HE created all things and has given each of us abilities and situations that allow us to do such things. HE is our Crowning Glory. We should always remember that without HIM, we are nothing. Have a great day.

If your sense of pride doesn't turn into arrogance or a sense of haughtiness or superiority, it is not a sin, rather an very unpleasant personality trait. The reversal of this is what God calls a sin.
See, God says: "In All Your Getting, Get An Understanding".

Pride is considered a sin because of what it intimates.
Say we are talking about baking cakes. I am proud because I bake such very very good tasting cakes. Otherpeople do not bake cakes that taste as good as mine. And I advertise the fact that my cakes are so very very good. This then makes those people who also make cakes, but not as good as mine, feel badly. So in being prideful, I have hurt others.
Now it would not be prideful to only say that I make a good cake. But to vault myself over others is the sin.

The Pride that is a sin has to do with failing to give God the Praise and Glory for blessing you with accomplishments. With out God we are nothing.

There is nothing wrong with feeling good about your accomplishments. Pride however, is when you think you are better than others and you look down on others. Being humble is understanding that you are not any better than others because we are all in need of God's forgiveness.

I don't believe it to be a sin, since I'm not a christian, but I think it has to do with the fact that pride has the tendency to lead to arrogance which can lead to a superiority complex which leads to viewing others as not worthy of your time which leads to treating others poorly which goes directly against the golden rule, treat others as you would like to be treated. All that in a single run-on sentence!
