I recently purchased a 8wk beagle mix and am using Wee Wee pads. At first I used newspapers for first week or two until my bestfriend recommended wee wee pads. look for them at ur pet store. cost affordable, easy maintenance and keeps the mess contained after length of training.

Why don't you just walk the poor thing? If you must train the dog to go IN the house, this might SOUND mean to people who don't like crate training...but here's my story.

My son found a Rott puppy. He was only about 10 weeks old at the time. We looked for the owners and ran ad's in the paper, but in the mean time, we couldn't leave him with the run of the house when we were gone, so we'd lock him in the bathroom with chew toys and water, and put training pads on the floor. With NO effort at all, he learned to use those pads. He started going on them, and that was it.

When we were home, he had the run of the house and we'd walk him often, but when we were gone, or at night when we went to bed, we'd put those pads where we wanted him to go, and he'd automatically go to them. Within 2 or 3 days, he never made a mess in the house, other than on the pads. We never had to scold him or 'train' him to use them. He just knew instinctively.

It will learn to go to the bathroom outside on it's own, why in the bathroom?

Put newspaper wherever the dog goes potty the most then pick it up and put it in the bathroom. Make sure you clean everywhere, except the bathroom really well. It will go to the bathroom where it's scent is. (in the bathroom) If it tries going somewhere else scold it and put it in the bathroom and close the door.

puppy potty pads are great. once my puppy used it once she always went back. put them somewhere in the house, and as she uses only the spot the potty pad is in, slowly move it closer to the bathroom. once you get it in the bathroom and she always goes to the bathroom to go potty, then try taking the potty pad away
