Wedding in another country?

Question

My fiance and i are planning to get married in another country like greece or spain, (we are in california). Some of our family will be able to afford to go while others can't; should that really be taken into consideration when we make our final arragements? Since it is OUR wedding should we just plan it the way we've dreamed of or try to accomidate our guests?

It's your wedding so do what makes you happy! You can get married in your dream place, then either have another ceremony(kind of like a renewal), or a reception style party once you get back home. I'm in America and my fiance is in Australia so we are getting married over there then a couple of months later, having a ceremony here. That way, all of our family and friends will be able to share it with us.

We too are getting married in another country (the Caribbean). We realize that many people won't come due to expensies, however it is completely the wedding we've always wanted. Also, we know if we have it here, stateside, our guest list will be about 400 people more than if we do it overseas, essentially making it MUICH cheaper to marry outside the states. :) It works out perfectly.

You should at least book accomdations for the number of people you think will attend -that way you can get a better rate and everyone will be staying at the same place, not scattered about in a foreign country
