I mean this in terms of doing nice things for me, etc... What do boyfriends of this length of time do to show their women they care? I'm trying to judge my relationship and it's difficult.

How old are you, child? In the real world, there isn't a list of expectations depending on the length of a relationship so that you can easily "judge" the quality of your relationship by whether or not your boyfriend is meeting the standards. You aren't treating him based on such a list, either, are you?

Healthy relationships are organic and unique. They are built between two people who are unlike any other people in the world, and they aren't even like a relationship between those same two people at another point in their lives! What you "do" for each other, and how often, will depend on the what each person needs, wants, and has/wants/is able to give. It's all about ebb and flow.

If you want more, give more.

Your problem is that ae trying to Judge your relationship. Don't do that! Relationships thrive on feelings. You cannot judge a relationship because of the simple fact that there is more than the feelings of one person involved. So the question you must ask is..... Where am I in this relationship? If you are satisfied with the way things are going then O.K. but if you are compelled to JUDGE the situation then the question truly is WHERE AM I in this relationship? Because if even there was a way you could think of something that would satisfy you and (falsely) prove that the relationship is going well you would probably have to TELL HIM to do whatever it is and then it would not be a TRUE reaction to your personal relationship. If you must make somekind of judgement then watch his involment into the relationship and compare it to yours. If you feel he is not putting effort into it then that itself is a sign but do not force actions from your boyfriend because he WILL do them and then you wont know if it's from the heart or because you said to do it.
Another thing is to be aware of advice recieved from friends or people in the Yahoo community. It's not what others think...It's How you feel!!!!
Remember, it is NOT WHAT OTHERS THINK is how you feel.
Great relationships have been ruined because of listening to other people.

Without asking him? It's hard to say. Some guys are thoughtful, some aren't. Not because they're bad guys, they just don't know what you need or aren't romantic. Sometimes you have to ASK (not NAG, ASK) for help around the house, or with your car, or whatever. And of course with long-term relationships like this, some of that early "impress her" stuff may have faded.
He should:
Be communicative with you, and complementary.
Do special things on holidays, like your birthday.
Keep in touch with you reasonably often (if you're fairly serious, that's probably once every other day at a minimum).
Be willing to make SOME compromises in his life for you (if that means foregoing other activities to see you, or diverting some of his video game budget to take you out, etc.)

Depends on the guy, and what you have told him that you want him to do for you. If he never does anything nice, ever, then that is a bad sign. If he attempts to make you happy most of the time, then that is a good sign.

Definitely hug you and kiss you, tell you you're beautiful, maybe flowers (not EVERY day though), open doors for you, offer to get you a drink, offer a back rub or something of that nature, utterly consider you and desire to know what will make you happy...everyday things like that!

me and my b/f have been dating a year but 4 months ago he gave me a promise ring! You should have one by now! He needs to do something for you to show you what you mean to him but maybe he is not that type of gut!
