I have been picked to sing for a program honoring our troops and I don't know what to sing. I do have a brother fighting in the Army and I would really like to honor him and his comrades in arms.

God Bless the USA ... by Lee Greenwood.

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston
and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Paint it Black - Marie LaForet How am i able to stay (Spanish) - ill Nino Ba I dont relatively like listening to songs that i dont understand the lyrics, particularly through fact I pay attention to music greater for the lyrics than something, i advise i admire stable guitars and drums and such, yet i admire the lyrics to make experience and characteristic a some sort of message that i can understand without having to translate it.

I would have to agree with patriot07, as a Viet Nam vet, I am partial to the original hymns of this country, you want to elicit a tug at the heart, you cant go wrong with the oldie's but goodies.

Sacrifice sung by Sinead O'Connor is absolutely beautiful! I myself want to do some sort of a honor for the soliders using this song, you can use it too if you like.

Well, this one wouldn't work, but for any wives/girlfriends sitting at home with their sailor overseas (like me soon!!!), the best song EVER is Bellbottom Blues by Teresa Brewer (1940's era)...soooo cute :)

Anything but Lee Greenwood's song. When it came out in the late eighties it was annoying and is worse even today.
