No, that is not true. They view him as a false prophet at best. The Jewish people had certain expectations of what a messiah was to be, and they were given certain ways to detect a false prophet. A true prophet would only teach the word of God, or the Hebrew Bible. He would not preach anything new outside the bounds of the established word. He would not preach another God that was unfamiliar to the Jewish people. The trinity is completely foreign to Judaism. Jesus simply fit to much of what the Jewish people were warned to watch out for by YHVH. Furthermore, the prophesy states that the messiah would usher in a time of perfect observance of the laws. Jesus, either directly or indirectly through Paul, does just the opposite. How many times have you heard Christians state that the old law no longer applies?
He also did not fulfill any of the prophesies of bringing about the Kingdom of Israel. The Hebrew Bible makes no mention of the messiah needing two tries to complete the prophesy.

Mike; As I understand it, Jesus [was known] to BE Gallilean Royalty.
In some Academic-circles, there is STILL debate -amoung the Jews- as to who [was actually] the elder: James, or his brother, Jesus..
(Interesting! At the time, the Jewish Temple was with James, as the Bible well illustrates. They were concerned with 'the Royal Line', naturally: -whereas, Jesus WAS a radical).
You would appreciate, at that time, Judea WAS an "Occupied Country": a Colony -of Rome. Now, just-as Vietnam WAS a Colony of France, NOBODY IS going to let the (local) Royalty "Get-Up";
-as exactly WAS the case in mid-Vietnam, at Hue (pronounced: "Way" = 'Flower': the very seat of Vietnamese, Royalty).
The Royal Family -in a Colony.. is viewed as being DANGEROUS;
and, so is really crushed-down. (AND, remember Herod was a Jewish "king", aproved, -but appointed by Rome)
.(It should also be taken into account that Saul walked, 'BANG'!
-into Jesus ..in Damascus, where they had a very long discussion.)
There are many who so Greatly admire the untiring work of the Epileptic
Saint Paul.. they do say that "christianity" -ought -really- be called,
"Paulism", -for without his work, linking-up ALL the Christian Churches;
"Christianity' today would BE little more than an off-shoot
of the main Jewish religion: an obscure 'variant';
perhaps of only interest to a handfull of Theological scholars..
(Well-worth/worthy-of deep consideration)..

Some Jews view Jesus as a prophet
Some view him as the true Messiah (Messianic Jews)
Some will say he was just an annoying troublemaker and any stories of him doing miracles are lies.
Some will deny he even was an actual person.
There are almost as many "brands" of the Jewish faith as there are of Christianity.
Note that in the most litteral sense that a Messianic Jew IS a Christian.

NO Jew believes that Jesus was either a prophet or the messiah. There is no mention of Jesus in any Hebrew writing -- he is a nonentity!
Messianic "Jews" are Christians masquerading as Jews in order to convert them.
We do not believe that the messiah will be a god. The messiah will be King of Israel when there is peace on earth for all mankind.

He was viewed as a man born out of an adulterous relationship. He was not the messiah that God promised because he didn't rise up and destroy the Roman Empire and bring the Jewish nation back into a world power.
That he was a blasphemous man who claimed to be God and because of that he deserved to be put to death. This is the viewpoint on how the Jews viewed Christ and many to this day still view Him this way.

Not all Jews view him as the same! But they don't believe in him the way christians do! Some Jews believe he was a prophet, some believe he was just a man, some may believe he didn't even exist, and some believe he was a heretic!

Average Jewish people believe that Jesus existed, historically speaking, and they know that He was Jewish. They do not believe that He is the Savior, but believe that the Savior is still coming.
There is a group called 'Jews for Jesus', but I know very little about why they chose to believe in Him.

the Jewish human beings have self assurance Jesus as a prophet, not greater. regardless of the undeniable fact that for the period of addition they have self assurance Christians are worshiping a pretend idol in Jesus. So as a result all Christians of their eyes are actually not with God yet against God by way of worshiping yet another God. they do no longer settle for Jesus and the daddy as one.

I think you are right. I used to work for a Jewish man and he believed that Jesus did exist but not that He was the Messiah.
