After we broke up my ex said we would still be friends. He would still talk to me and hang out with me and our friends. But then he started to avoid me. It's gotten to the point where I'll walk up to our friends and he'll just turn his back on me. He won't even look at me. He dosn't talk to me at all. He won't go to any of the after school clubs we were both in before either, and won't tell his best friend why he decided to quit. We had a pretty mutual break up, he just didn't want to be with me anymore and I didn't plan on staying in a relationship where I wasn't wanted. I never did anything to hurt him. He has told me he dosn't love me anymore and that he never wants to be with me again over e-mails so I know he dosn't have feelings for me. So why can't he just be my friend? I'm not trying to get him back, but it makes things kind of weird when hes avoiding me and I don't want to lose a friend. Maybe I can fix it if I know why hes being like this. Any ideas?

We have mutual friends so avoiding him is not an option unless I blow off all my other friends which I'm not going to do just because of him.

maybe he thought things would be cool if you and him were just friends or maybe he's seeing that its kind of awkward if you and him are friends.. maybe its just weird to him. give him time and see if he'll come around. you trying to be around him or talk to him probably is scaring him away cause he doesn't want you to think or feel that you and him are going to get back together.. maybe thats also a reason for the distance.

Although he said you could be friends and his intentions were good at the time, reality is that it is very difficult to remain friends after a relationship is terminated. Once he finds a new love interest, she is not going to very pleased that he is hanging out and talking to an x. When you see each other be cordial, "hi , how are you" and leave it at that. Do not be offended if there are times he does not talk to you at all, after all, he is an ex.

we were going out for two years then borke up, few years down the line we now work in the same retail store.
we don't see eye to eye, but the friendship is still there. now we work on different floors and distance our selves. y? dunno! but i try and force her (yes am a guy) to make her talk to me, like we used to but as friends, i don't how its works in a girls point of view.
he properly hurt u? i mean, gone out with someone and not told u... or has stronger feelings for another girl and loses u during the process so its looks u 2 r not going out with each other (if it makes sense). but i may see this in a diffent view. hopes this helps. good luck ;)

confront him-
hey (insert name here)
why are you trying to avoid me,
just because we broke up dosent mean we cant be friends,
it makes no sense to me why you are acting like a baby.
why cant we be just friends?
say something like that to him when he turns his back.
hopefully that will catch his attention.
