I'm not really an 'arty' kinda person, but looking at his work just now, I think its quite good, better than some I've seen.

I think that you can't talk a bout an artwork as overrated because depends on each person taste ... and pocket. I would never pay 10 millions for a Delacroix or a Corot, etc.. but I would pay for a Tapies, Miro, DeKooning.

His star has fallen against that of Ingres, whith who he is contemporaneous.
I think this is partly because of the odd drawing in his works; and because his colouristic achevements are less obvious to us now, given the artists that have superceded him.
Some would also say thet the romantic themes in his work no longer convice; and that his orientalism just seems a little silly.
However, he is truly a great painter. His picture of "Liberty" is one of the few great political works, Sardanapoulis is beautiful and his portraits are full of life.
It's time for a retrospective of his work.

VERY good, and surely not overrated. Delacroix was a great artist.

Delacroix has received a lot of criticisms about his art, however he has something special in it.

not good or bad or overrated, but very good, you really have to look at his paintings in detail to appreciate.
