The reason they put down God is ignorance. They haven't been touched by the hand of God to be able to study His word and understand that He loves us...He is love.

Just like any religion there are the feverent belivers who get in peoples faces and preach way to much. They do not represent the whole of Christians. I guess that many people put us down because of bad experiances with these few. Unfortunatly to generalize about a group of people is much easier than to actually do some home work about them. (henc stereotypes). But athiests take great pride in bashing our faith in something that cant be proven. They forget that they cant disprove it either, and gloss over that fact. Many scientists set out to find evidance that God doesnt exist, and wind up with more evidance that this is not all be chance then ever. Some even change thier minds. Others like to cover that up as well. In the end its all on faith, and faith is just that. Its Faith. You belive for no reason other than you do, and people dont like not having facts. They ofen feel lost with out stability and a sense of normalness. any good phyc doctor will tell you we all need security, and for many security is science in how the world will always work.

Please remember that while athiests push science and facts that according to science raindrops should kill you, and the bumble bee can not fly. Its all on faith and the unexplainable!

Why don't you ask them if they "would" have a personal relationship with someone who did the above? If they say no, they are being hypocrites....because they are suppose to be spreading the "word" and trying to "save" the sinners. If they intentionally stay away from those people, they are not doing their jobs as christians. I've noticed they only try to save the people who aren't harming anything or anyone....such as people of other religions and beliefs, and gays. But they stay away from the REAL sinners. They stay away from the KKK rallies, the prisons, and gang ghettos.

"The reason they put down God is ignorance. They haven't been touched by the hand of God to be able to study His word and understand that He loves us...He is love."

They are not putting down God, they are putting down Christians. There is a difference. Everyone has a chance to study what Christians call the word. There are people I know that study it more than some christians I know, and it still does not resonate with them.

Most groups have people that generalize about other religions. Athiests, christians, muslims, even nature centric "open-minded" pagans have people that generalize about other belief systems and religions.

I've heard some christians say that all pagans are devil worshippers. Seriously not so, they just don't know about the other's belief system. I've heard some christians say that those who aren't christian are going to hell. I've heard some christians say that if you're not the right sect of christian, you're going to hell. Christians generalizing about other christians. Imagine that.

I've heard pagans stereotype christians.

I hear tons of people from various beliefs stereotype muslims and jews.

It's all encompassing. People are people. Your point here, in my opinion, is moot... and is a vast generalization in itself.

Well I said No to all except Yes to the last. Oh boy, what a can of worms opened on this. Yesterday, basically I corrected a fellow Christian for acting in this manner. Showed scripture to support that we should be loving, not talking about annihilating people, yes, she wanted to annihilate the Atheist's as a belief, Her stated goal on profile is basically about getting rid of Atheists. This is what she is obsessed with. Because I corrected her and told her that she shouldn't act like that, she got really hateful with me as well. I have been corrected, and responded publicly with an apology and thanks for the correction, and I have also corrected, and have been thanked for the correction. THIS is how Christians should be with one another. THIS attitude is why people say the things that they do about us!

Sorry, but I had to vent, good question.

It's common for people to take the worst part of a group's history, and paint everyone in that group, currently, with guilt for what was done by someone else, a long time ago. They'll even use current misbehavior to find everyone in a group guilty for the deeds of one person (ie: Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, etc.)

Just ignore it.

No to the first 4, Not sure for 5, No again, yes.

Because they hate us. There are some people called christians that do not really follow Christ or try to and atheists like concentrate on them so so they have grounds to malign us

Let's see, I have personally known a few Christians who were members of the KKK and ones who were Nazis.

I have also had many Christians tell me to my face that I was going to burn in Hell.

people generalize about all kinds of things...

I have heard things like...

all men are 'this'
all black people are 'this'
all women act like 'this'
all non-christians act like 'this'
all christians do 'this'
all atheists 'generalize'

people generalize because they are on the opposing side of whatever the topic is.... and they get the best 'response' when they are rude and upset people, or so they think
