You can use ; basil, marjoram; oregano; or savory as a substitute for the Thyme, or just leave it out entirely.

no, it won't make that big of a deal. And really, you can substitute any herb of your choice. Cooking is all about what you like, what appeals to your palate. Just because a recipe is written, doesn't mean you can't alter it. It's more of a guideline.

Thyme is a unique flavor all its own. Look in your pantry and see if you have any herbal blends that include thyme. If not, try a little sage or poultry seasoning.
