If you have redness on top of the acne scarring, which it appears you do, then you may have acne rosacea. You can get special medication for that through your doc. In terms of the scarring, the best cure is laser treatments, but that IS pretty costly. You can also try a peeling agent: either get a chemical peel (--about $80 in Canadian currency) or ask for something called Stievamyacin (--which will set ya back about $30 in Canadian dollars, but if you have insurance, it'll likely be covered). It'll exfoliate your skin, but will help clear acne at the same time. It's the tretonin in it that exfoliates. So, if you think about it, if your skin is being exfoliated, it will become smoother in time. The top layers are more rapidly peeled off with a chemical peel, but the stievamyacin will do the same thing except it might take longer. If none of these suggestions do it for ya, at least opt for something prescription strength. Anything over-the-counter, like vitamin E or whatever, will have only a minimal effect.

You poor honey....
Here is my best advice:
1. There is a really awesome foundation by Almay called "Clear Complexion Make-up." They sell 3 differnt kinds - one for oily skin, one for combo skin and one for dry skin. I use the oily skin one, and it really covers up the acne marks and it also helps heal the blemishes. It totally does not get oily or cakey either. It's about 10 bucks, but it really works great!
2. Use a fade cream (aka bleaching cream) on your blemishes. One that works really well is made by a company called "Black and White." Rub some of the cream on your blemishes and go to bed. After a few nights of this, you will start to see the spots fade. In a couple weeks they will be really fading fast.
3. To even out your skin tone, try this:
Make yourself a cup of green tea. Crush a vitamin C tablet into powder and add it to your tea. Let the tea cool. Apply some of the tea to your skin and let it dry. In a few days it will start to even out you skin tone. (some of the vitamin C will settle at the bottom of the glass, so you have to stir it right before applying it to your face.)
Hope this helps! good luck :)

I had better luck with retonol. My brother did better with the proactive. But i would agree with some of the others and talk to a dermatologist. But be warned, insurance may not pay for any perscriptions that the doctor may issue saying that the medication is "cosmetic." In that case, you may want to try the proactive solution. It's not too expensive and it can be found at any local walgreens or CVS

Proactiv! Get it now! My son had the same issues. Proactiv cleared it up within 10 days! His was worse. It says it is good for acne, but it is good for all facial skin issues. It helped my Rosalia (sp?) I have small spider veins on cheeks. Can't see them with makeup on, but I see them and it bothered me.

Schedule a appointment with a dermatologist and see if they can put you on retinol. It's not cheap but stil cheaper than surgery
