To get rid of my hiccups, I drink big gulps of water. Other ways:
Courtesy of Health magazine.
* Plug your ears. It may sound silly, but sticking your fingers in your ears helps short-circuit the nerve from your brain that controls hiccups – which are actually twitches from your diaphragm.
* Draw the line! Using a cotton swab, gently draw a line down the roof of your mouth. The "tickle" you feel stops the spasm in your throat that shuts off your windpipe and causes the "hic" sound.
* Breath into a paper bag. This trick produces carbon dioxide, which doctors say calms the diaphragm, stopping the hiccups. But only do this if someone else is around, in case you feel woozy.
* Press your index fingers into the soft areas just behind your earlobes. That alerts your vagus nerve to send a calming signal to your contracting diaphragm.
- To cure hiccups, rub an ice cube on your throat for about a minute. The cold short-circuits the hiccup signals traveling between your brain and diaphragm. You'll be cured in no time.

This ALWAYS works for me: Take a pencil, a straw, or similar object and place it in your mouth sideways (so each end of the pencil hangs out over the edge of your mouth) and slowly drink a few long sips of water.
I think it works on relaxing the muscle that causes hiccups because you are so focused on not spilling the water. Try it. You'll feel silly, but it works. I hope it works for you, too. Let me know...

A good way of getting rid of hiccups is to pour a glass of water and try to drink from it from the opposite side of the cup like upside down. You could also have someone try to scare you.

if you were to go to a hospitail for treatment they would give you a small paper bag and tell you to hold that over your nose and mouth. then breath in and out . you have to hold it no help as you will know when enough is enough and if someone else holds it they can cause you to faint. so just hold it up yourself no tape or anything . keep doing this until the hicups are gone .

I heard this on the radio and it really works.
Take a sip of water but don't swallow. Put a pencil between your teeth, it's important that your teeth are separated. Then swallow.
Instant hiccup cure.

My family always uses a teaspoon of sugar on the tongue. Let it melt. It works every time for us.
