A diabetic (like myself) is someone whose body doesn't make enough insulin. Pure sugar isn't digestible. It has to be broken down into nutrients the body can use to "feed" your organs and muscles. Insulin breaks down sugar. The organ that produces insulin is the pancreas. A diabetic has a lazy or non functional pancreas. There are 2 types of diabetics. A type 1 diabetic has to inject insulin in order to function. A type 2 diabetic (like myself) can control with diet and exercise.
Just because you haven't been diagnosed with diabetes doesn't mean you're not diabetic. Over 5% of the world's population don't know they have diabetes, but actually do. If a Doc sends you to a clinic to get a blood sample, say you'd also like a blood sugar and A1C test done.

A diabetic is when a person has diabetes. They can't process sugar properly so they have to inject a needle in themselves every day. They do that to check their blood sugar level to make sure that it's not to high. The needle doesn't hurt, it is just like a prick.
