Syntax is a set of rules that define what the correct "sentences" are. Your question can mean either syntax, say, of formal languages, and your question could be "how do I find the minimal set of rules that define a language" or it could be "how do I formally understand the grammar of a language, say, English grammar".
Syntax is what tells you that:
"the car go fast" is wrong (despite you being able to interpret it correctly)
Semantics, on the other hand, are also some rules that give sense to a sentence. Meaning is what tells you that this is semantically wrong, although syntactically right:
"that cat's bark is loud".

A beautiful sentence (by Noam Chomsky) that shows the strange game of syntax and semantics is:

Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.

in computer programming it is the programming languages and the patterns they use to execute certain commands. Ex. if a graphing calculator says syntax error it is because the command asked cannot be done with the code or syntax currently being used in the calculator
it depends on the syntax you are looking for to find it.

syntax is the structure of a sentence. you can find it by looking at the sentence in question and figuring out the subject verb agreement and whether it is correct or not. i assume you're asking this for interpretation purposes. usually odd syntax is used for poetic language to create a certain effect for the reader. sometimes to slow or speed up the program or sometimes to simply make the piece sound less pedestrian but thats up for you to decide for yourself...remember when interpreting literature you can never be wrong as long as you can back up what you say
