Only if it was a registered charity. And then only the funds that went directly to the charity from your pocket. Any funds that you collected for the charity and gave to them are NOT deductible by you but may be deductible by the donor if the charity issued receipts for the donations.

This depends on what organization held the skate-a-thon. If it was a 901C3 non-profit, they should of given you a receipt so that you can take a tax deduction.

If the organization holding the skate-a-thon is an eligible, registered charity, and your check was written to the organization, then you can deduct it as a charitable contribution if you itemize.
