I know how to get a Yorkie's ear up and all, but will down ears harm it in any way if they stay down?

The only thing that it might do is increase the risk of infection. That risk is pretty minimal though

That is the way their ears naturally grow, and I personally think it is good to let them grow naturally.

No, the ears being flop will NOT hurt your pup. If down ears would hurt your Yorkie, then what about the Phalene...it was developed from Papillions, if it hurt the dog, then I highly doubt that it would be such a popular breed today, I mean who would want a dog that's constantly in pain? The only thing that you might have to look out for is an ear infection now and then..because of all of the hair, but if you clean your dogs ears regurlary then their should be no problem, let alone nerve damage. ;-)

I highly doubt it will harm the dog if his ears don't stand. It doesn't harm schnauzers, dobermans, shepherds etc... so I seriously don't think it will do anything at all to your dog.

Depending on how old your dog is, you can tape the ears up (you can get directions online), or if you don't agree with that...you can try massage. Most will stand between 6 and 8 weeks, but some CAN take as long as 4 months. Don't worry though. Yorkies are cute with floppy ears too!

I was concerned about my yorkie's ears too. But at about 13 weeks, they just kinda perked up. The vet told me that the dog wouldnt care if the ears are up and it doesn't even affect their hearing. She did say that the floppy ears are a sign that the yorkie isn't a full-blooded yorkie, but I've heard otherwise since.
