Why didn't an angel appear to James in the Bible but just Peter?

I am doing a Bible Study and would like an answer please. Peter was assisted by angels to get out of prison, but why didn't God assist James? Help. Anyone.

There is a purpose behind everything God does. We don't always know what that purpose is. But in the end, Peter along with all of the other apostles (except John) were captured and killed in one way or another.
