My daughter has a Great Dane mix that seems to never get his belly full. He is now fed three times a day, 24 ounces each time, yet he still seems to be starving. He has been to the vet and been dewormed and all his shots are up to date. Thought I would try hear before calling the vet. They always want an office visit and lots of tests before discussing anything. All serious suggestions greatly appriciated. Thankyou in advance.

I know about the canned dog food. He is on dry and one of the best the pet store has to offer. He had full blood work and checked out fine there too. I guess I'm just hoping this is normal. Again...thank you in advance.

i have a 2 yr old female german shepherd that is like that, and we feed her tons more than what we give the other dogs...if we dont she gets this starved look. i am told that large breed dogs like mine and yours too mature more slowly, and so take longer to finish growing...so their food is still being turned into growth. that may be what you are seeing.

Dogs tend to be like that. If he is a healthy weight and active then he is not starving.

THey should eat 2 to 3 times a day, so you are doing right. Check out this site put out ob Royal Canin (the best dog food out there) on how much and what type of food to feed your great dane

My dog is like that too, but if we fed her as much as she wanted she would be massively overweight!

I think it's part of being a dog--by nature they are scavengers so they will eat as much as they can of whatever they can find b/c they don't know when their next meal is coming!

My female Doberman is like that. She is a very active dog, constantly on the go. She burns alot more calories than the others do, therefore she needs more calories.

if he is on canned food get him off of it . I recommend changing his food.. try life's Abundance you can check out their web site. he may also be eating out of boredom or a possible thyroid problem a blood test would rule it out . take him for plenty of walks
