This is the attitude I have with my degree. I have tried 101% all the way through and know the top mark I get will be a low pass- it is a mathematical impossibility, based on existing grades, for me to get any higher.

Am I in the correct frame of mind, or should I have already ducked out with dignity? Thanks!

Dignity doesn't pay the bills.

A piece of paper is important, provided you pass it really does not matter how hard you tried, there will be many more important things in life than a degree.

Dear Dave,
Seeing as it still is February, I would think your semester is no over yet till May where there is at least one grade left to seek to do well on. Or are you working for your degree online?

Either way, you may feel, whenever you have given 101percent at anything in life, especially if you did not duck your way out because of pride and saw things through the end, you are a success. Success is giving everything you've reasonably been able to give. Even if you failed your degree plan, you still were and are a succes if you crossed the finishing line doing your best. Some people don't even try to get a degree and don't even care to, or not willing to work for it. Failing at an attempt is not failure, and passing with a school grade if that was the best you could do deserves a standing applause. I went to college and had to stop end of my junior year. I have had the chance to go back and complete it, but I haven't. The degree plan 15 years later now is much more complex, and even the brightest it's tough. My mother who was dean of education at Dallas Baptist University felt if I passed and got the degree in elementary education, the Texas standardized test is so hard that she felt it might be hopeless to try and didn't encourage me to finish my degree. She was afraid I wouldn't do well. You are a winner just if you see things to the end with everything you have in you like a marathon. You are a winner . God never makes junk.

Even if you fail if you have put 101 % into it then you have surpassed yourself and can ask no more of yourself. You then have to have the courage to admit that this area is just not your forte. At least you will know that it is not from not trying.

All I ever asked of my kids is that they did the best that they could but that every body has different strengths and not to worry if they didn't succeed in everything they did as all that mattered was they gave it their all. One is now doing very well at University the other is working the land and another has moved to Poland to teach. They have all made sound decisions based on their natural talents and what makes them happy. I am proud of them all.

Quitting half way is not my scene I would rather complete a course than drop out half way sometimes we surprise ourselves right at the last moment and just manage to pull out that extra 10%

Education is extremely important so don't give up no matter what you do. And yes, it is noble to say at least you tried but did you know that failure is a part of success? Do you know how many times Mr. Hershey of the Hershey Chocolate empire filed for bankruptcy before he created the first Hershey bar? How about the most recent of current failure to success stories? Jennifer Hudson was told by Simon on "American Idol" that she didn't have what it takes to be and idol. Look at who's Oscar material now!! So don't let your failures stop you but let them become the fuel to your success. You will make it, just keep trying!!! : )

Wrong category. But I'd say that if you can honestly say you've done your very best - not just the best you could be bothered to do in the time between getting up at 11 and getting to the bar at 4, but your real, earnest best effort - then you should be proud of yourself.

I think you owe it to yourself to complete your degree what ever the mark. maybe you feel you could or should have done better - that's the past. Whatever grade you have you'll have a degree in some shape or form. If you walk away you'll have nothing but bitterness - Trust me this is someone that knows!

Nothing ventured nothing gained and I personally take my hat off to you for trying. Plus you should always have a safety net to fall back on so broaden your horizons you may just be a genius in something else. One knows how difficult math can be, at school I was only average and yet I left to work in a wages department doings salaries for 100plus on piece work at that. However I later reached my potential in something entirely different.

You can only do your best in this life and if you think you have done this then all the best to you.Whatever pass you get you did a lot more than some people who sit on their backsides all day and do nothing. You are a "stayer" and should be admired.

What's going to get you the most interviews, I had to work my butt off just to get my degree - or I quit trying because it got too tough? Seeing it through says something about your character all by itself. It will also remind you of what you can do when you set your mind to something and want it bad enough!

No your mentality is the best approach to take in life because our best is all we can do. Alright our best may not be good enough but for Who? It may not please other people but as long as you know you've not failed yourself.
Lol, just make sure nextime you do your best from the beginning so you dont have to make do with a pass.
