I want to go away mid-May. Any reccommendations would be great. I quite fancied Ocean Village Cruises, but they seem quite expensive! We want to spend about £300 per person. I'll be going with my fiance. We are 25yrs old. We like culture rather than clubbing and like going to restaurants......Thanks for your help.

ah culture...and on a budget of £300 (€450 euros) each... I take it that's for a week to 10 days?

well, in that case I can recommend either a quick tour of Italy taking in Rome, Florence (day trips to stunning Sienna & Assisi), Verona, Ravenna and finishing in Venice.

You would fly into Rome with Ryanair for about £15 each, travel by bus and train, and stay in hostels (double rooms of course - and by double rooms, I mean 2 single beds usually!) which would cost you about £15 a night each ...

you could possibly manage that on £300 each ... with care...

In Florence, at all costs do not miss the opportunity to have your mouth drop wide open when you see Michelangelo's david for the first time in the Academia :)

In Rome, make sure you take the Rome Revealed tour of the Vatican City Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St Peters Basilica.

An alternative would be the beautiful and culturally important cities of Spain, start in Santiago De Compostela (last resting place of St James the Apostle) and head to Madrid via Salamanca (where Europe's oldest university is and the cathedral is incredible) and Vailladolid (former Royal City).

From Madrid take day trips to Toledo (yes, the city of El Greco), Avila, and Segovia (to visit the great Roman Aquaduct and cathedral

Then, either head to Barcelona for a couple of days, or head down to Andalucia to visit the Moorish culture of Seville, Cordoba, and Grenada.

Again, for £300 you will be staying in hostels, but remember, hostels these days are clean and comfortable, and right in the center of all the cultural attractions...

Also, for more info you could try the Lonely Planet Thorntree - which is the worlds largets independant travellers forum (link below)

I've put links to my favourite hostels and cities below...

Have a great holiday, let me know by email if you need more assistance!

Is that 300 pounds each per day or for the total trip?
Why not take the train to France and from there rail pass all the way south or north. May is warm enough for northern Europe.
What about Morocco, ferry to Tunisia. It also depends on how long you have vacation for.
You will get more true responses if the question is restated with more concise info.

Not for £300 per person. We have to spend at least £1000 each.
Here are a list of some places we've been to...we hate clubbing etc too.
Tobago,Grenada,St Lucia,Dominican Republic,Madeira,Portugal,
Gambia,Greece,Crete,Seychelles,Maldives,Dubai...but if it's culture you're after..there's nowhere to compare with Egypt..Luxor, valley of the kings and queens..awesome..Enjoy.
