to me, it is an every-day reminder how my savior not only died to save me, but that he suffered, too.

Without the cross as a daily reminder,I wouldn't be alive today.I almost died in South Vietnam in 1970. But didn't.
Our Savior,Jesus, the Son of God,suffered , was scourged, and hung on that cross for three hours.
It was the most selfless act anyone ever did in this world.
To take on the sins of the world for everyone dead, alive, and yet to come.
I know I wouldn't have been that strong.

I wear a chain with a small cross around my neck. The cross reminds me of the Crucifixion of my Lord and Savior. It reminds me of His suffering to take my place for the sins that I have commited. It reminds me that He is no longer on the cross. It is empty. He is alive and is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, now sitting at the right hand of God, because of who He is and What He did. Celebration!

For those who do not understand what He did. When Jesus was placed upon the cross, it was the most horrific manor of torture used by the Romans, in those days. The victums hands and feet were nailed and they were placed so that they had to lift themselves up and down to be able to breath. This torture went on for several hours until their legs were broken so that they could not raise themselves any longer.

In the case of Jesus, He was stabbed with a sword which killed Him. His legs were not broken. Which was stated in Isaiah 53, written about 600 years before He was born.

This was not the worst of what He endured. The worst was that He was completely separated from God for 3 days. God had to turn His back on Jesus because Jesus became our sins. Sin cannot enter Heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:21.

Because of Jesus taking our place and enduring death. When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior and turn away from sin (repent). We as Christians are declaired blameless. We are then given the free gift of God. Eternal life with Him.

Love
Psalm 85:10 says, "Lovingkindness and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other."

The cross is the bitter-sweet reminder of what Jesus did for me. One hand I'm thankful for the peace with God I know have through Jesus Christ, but on the other I'm extremely humbled that he had to go to such great lengths (death on a cross!) to make me righteous in God's eyes.

It's truly "Amazing Love! How can it be? That you my King would die for me?"

Not sure I get what a big deal it is. I mean, if you gave ME omnipotent power/intelligence, the capacity to love in unlimited infinite capacity, made me a seminal religious figure worshipped by billions of people, assured me of an eternal life... well, I'd be fine being nailed up to a cross for a few days.

But maybe that's just me.

It is my reminder of how Jesus suffered and died for ME! He loved me so much that he came to earth so that I did not have to suffer. All I have to do is believe. How easy is that? It is a symbol of his love.

The cross is a remembrance of Jesus when He became a ransom for my sins and arose so I can have life everlasting. We were dead in our sins and Jesus went to the cross, suffered and died for me and you. No greater love has any man than he lay down His life for his friends.

A model of the most horrific implement of torture and execution ever devised by man. An Autvitch gas chamber woulds be a more tasteful symbol. But it's be adopted by a equally unpleasant belief system which is becoming more and more violent as it looses it's hold on society as more and more people realize how inaccurate and untrue it is. Say no to jesus.

Aside from the usual associations with the cross, I think of Mary the mother of Jesus. The strength and faith to be able to bear witness to the death of her son. She of course knew He was from God, but it still had to be a deep sorrow for the mother of the child.
