Cheap tools Suck. they damage fasteners, wear and distort quickly and when you need them the most, fail. Buy Quality Tools ONCE! Yes its nice to have everything you need cheaply, but,... The bitter flavor of poor quality lasts long after the sweet taste of low price has left.

Try www.yardstore.com and browntool.com. Both are solely aviation tools and have some used deals as well. You get what you pay for, but these guys sell the good stuff. My personal box is all Snap-on and Craftsman hand tools. Most my air tools are Sioux. A lot of my bucking bars, clecos and rivet sets are used. Things like those you can find on ebay, often in large amounts really cheap. I've found a lot on ebay, but you have to be careful. I never got screwed on there, but you can if you don't watch out. Just shop around, good tools are worth the price. I've bought junk before to save money and regretted it! So the $20 set of wrenches were replaced with $600 Snap on's off ebay used for $350. Having quality tools is like having a car you can rely on to get you to work.

Very few people buy new or near new aircraft. Buying a good clean older aircraft with decent equipment and good maintenance, maybe even one that has been fully refurbished, is always the least expensive path to ownership. Many times you will see refurbished planes that have had way more spent on them than the market value of the final result! Buying one correctly requires knowledge of the market, a clear idea of what you want, and a lot of "hunting" and research. There are buyers agents, they do pay for themselves, they know the market, using one is a very good idea unless you are an expert! Don't use a broker to find one use a buyers agent. Building a kit is not cheaper if you count your time as any value!

Try pawn shops near A/C plants. But watch the prices, they tend to be higher than buying them new. Haggle the price. Advertise, there are people who are getting out of the business and want to sell their tools.

I've seen these at the Cypress College swap meet on the weekends.
Probably stolen from Boeing.
